Now Robots Can Walk On Water !

The Robot that Walks on Water !
You might have heard of water strider, an insect that can skim effortlessly on the surface of water. And robots are generally heard of walking on land or flying in air otherwise moving underwater. But, on water ? Never thought of it, Huh? Now, Zhejiang University has come up with the robot which can walk on water.

Walking on water is dream for humans while the way for aquatic insects. Just because we are heavy and they are light. But, this microrobot which is 390 times heavier than a water strider can still walk effortlessly on water. Not only walks but also stands and runs on water.

Scientists have made tiny aquatic devices based on the water strider. But until now, no one has found a way to make water—walking robots that are practical, agile, and inexpensive as Zhejiang's professor Qinmin Pan has done.

The new robot has a body about the size of a quarter; 10 water—repellent, wire legs; and two movable, oar—like legs — propelled by two miniature motors.

Being a vast improvement over the other devices of its category this robot can be use for military spy, pollution monitoring, etc.

So, if you want to see heavy water striders and artificial ones in your well or pond or on any water surface, this microrobot called bionic bot is ready for you.
