With the latest RTM release, most of you must have got very familiar with Microsoft's latest OS that is scheduled to be launched on October 26. With the release, a new era of operating system mechanism is going to start. Microsoft has totally revolutionized the way we used our friendly OS with Windows 8. It's also the first OS from the Redmond giant to have so many previews, tests and far more development and improvements ahead of its release.
The first thing one notices in 8 is the whole new interface. Termed as "metro", this new interface has already been accepted by people at large. Apart from being lucid and comfortable, its very easy to customize. In short, one can hang out with it for hours without getting bored. New features also include a new style of lock screen and death of the 'start menu' and its place has been taken over by the whole new 'start screen' that will replace the desktop when the computer turns on every time. The metro interface features big tiles that are very easy to use specially in touch screens. The tiles have a very fantastic feature in themselves showing essential details that you would have otherwise checked by opening the respective application. Windows 8 also has much faster reboot timings - a matter of 10-12 seconds!
Following are the features that are born of a totally new concept! :
-All new Internet Explorer 10 which features it's address bar at bottom and has a new tabline interface at top.
-Background apps can be accessed from any app by taking mouse pointer to the left side of the screen. A full sidebar display comes up showing all the running apps. Eventually to work on one you can drag it and bring it to the main screen.
-No more freezing problems as is the case with Windows 7. It automatically force closes any application that freezes.
-8 also includes the all new Windows Store to support apps as those of App Store and Google Play.
-Integration with Microsoft account.
-With File Explorer, there is no more My Computer.
-All new Boot Secure and Windows To Go features included. Boot Secure will enable a new foundation for an architecturally neutral approach to platform and firmware security whereas Windows To Go will allow users to create a bootable USB flash drive that will include user's programs settings and files.
The Windows Store
With addition of new features many features have also been removed forever from Windows 8:
-The creator of Start Button has destroyed it! Yes, Windows 8 no longer features the long familiar start button instead, to access the start screen you have to either go for the sidebar on left side or move your pointer straight to left bottom corner of the screen.
-The command bar is no longer there in 8
-The Aero Glass theme has been removed in order to fit in with the metro interface.
Apart from this one exclusive feature that is totally new in the REFS file system that replaces the current NTFS file system. For now, it will only be included in the Windows Server 2012 edition. Apart from being more flexible, REFS file system will provide mirror storage, faster searches, faster read/write speeds and secure file storage. Windows 8 has also increased its low level securities to the next level.
The following will be the different versions of Windows 8:
-Windows 8
-Windows 8 RT for ARM tablets
-Windows 8 Pro
-Windows 8 Server
-Windows Server 2012
